OCR Mark Scheme for self-assessment

Media and Collective Identity Mark Scheme

Final Week of revision

Year 13 students...I am sitting here ready to bestow my words of wisdom upon you and you are not here? You agreed to normal lessons this week for revision purposes!! Have you forgotten?

If you do make it in tomorrow - make sure you bring your essays - the one that I asked you to write 2 weeks ago on how the Media have replaced the family and religion in helping to create self identities.

In case you don't - I will post the mark scheme for you to self -assess your essay and some final notes on identity that you may find useful to being your argument in the exam NEXT WEEK.

They think it's all over; it is now.....for a while at least

Phew - the nightmare of coursework for you guys is over!! :) It was a stuggle due to technical difficulties and tempers and nerves got a bit tattered...but you can relax a little this weekend. Full steam ahead with working towards the G322 and G325 exams from next week. The exams are on : May 17th and June 16th respectively. Don't forget to look through the revision materials attached to this blog and read through your class notes at home.

Exam tips: when revising make notes - don't just read.
don't bother with generalised intros in the exam.
make sure you have 2/3 good theoretical quotes to 'hang' your argument on
don't waffle - be concise and precise

Year 13 - homework for this week: find and post a quote from your research on the topic of Collective Identity. Make sure you reference it and say why you have chosen it.

Coursework - final countdown!

I hope you have had a 'productive' and sunny holiday but it's back to work tomorrow I'm afraid!! I have checked your blogs and there are some short comings - these must be addressed in this week's lessons and all final changes made by end of Thursday 28th April. Please use the following check list:

- introduction to you, your blog and your product (see main hub for example)
- final film product to be first thing seen
- preliminary or ancilary products to be embedded
- evaluatory questions to be sub-headed and answered in detail
- your responses should include a variety of media: slideshare, video, audio, images etc
- you must include evidence of all your research and planning tasks

Please self assess your work looking at the OCR mark scheme that you have been given.

NB: There must be strong evidence that you have utilised the blog medium skillfully. A blog is not an essay!

The week starting April the 4th is upon us!! That means that all 'final cuts' of production pieces are due. Year 13 - all Ancilliary Tasks must be handed in to Miss Gatty by Friday 8th April and deadlines may only be extended by personal request and with extenuating circumstances. Year 12 - Film Openings must be burned on to disc by Friday 8th April. You must see Mr Sleeth about how to save your work before doing this. The final blog deadline for all is April 15th - all work must be posted and accessible by this date.
